Search for folder names - not files
Search for folder names - not files
I have searched for folder names (NOT FILES) by typing the name in the address line. There appears to be some secret to getting good results.
From time to time a partial name may yield folder names in multiple drives – in a single search.. Other times nothing is found using a similar name of a folder that is known to exist but needs to be found.
The search menu in F12 does not have this type of search. I see no search for folders in it.
Google found nothing useful. I’m all ears if you have the secret. Thanks in advance.

I'm Win 10
What software gets that?
Should I have Directory checked or not?

Re: Search for folder names - not files
It is XY's info panel (F12) / Find Files tab / Attributes.
Now I suggest you open up XY's help file (F1) and read up on find files in XY or try to explain better (preferably with screenshots) what your problem is.

Re: Search for folder names - not files
Using your check marks on the F12 > attribute screen appears to give good results in finding folders. It is however unclear what the Applied Filters, on the right, “Attributes” selection does. The translated explanation in F1 remains unclear to me.
After all that I needed to find just ordinary image or docx files. Should be a simple matter of unchecking “Directory” – that turned out Not to work. Then I unchecked everything except “Name” same bad result. After that, I used the “reset Filters” to factory settings per F1. Did nothing either. Restarting XY made no difference. I have used the F3 successfully in the past. (Select drive + F3)
What is it that I am missing or doing incorrectly?
Per Google:
How do I search for folders in Xyplorer?
Open the Info Panel (press F12), select the Find Files tab, and open Name & Location. Press the "Find Now" button (or F3). That's it. Within a few moments the files you are looking for are listed in a special tab called "Search Results" and ready for further processing.May 13, 2008

For simple name searches you don't need the Find Files interface at all. Simply press F3 to open the "Quick Name Search", enter what you are looking for and press OK.

I'm sorry but as stated earlier I'm out of here as there seems to be no logic left that I could possibly teach you without getting lost myself

We neither know in which path you are searching, what this path really contains (file wise), what the exact search options look like. What is it that I am missing or doing incorrectly?
In other words: nothing
