Lost my last response in the forum.
When I enable Automatic updating the highlighting occours
as long as I hold down the left mouse button to a new location in the tree. It highlights the current location.
If I release the button the location changes but no highlighting at all.

Not sure, what that means.

Well, XY does that even without the script.

Not sure. Does it now work or does it not work. I guess it does not work.

Can you check if your setup looks like on the pictures (or equivalent), please.
And the context menu should look like in the first post: download/file.php?id=16047
And then, if you open a new tab and in that new tab go to a folder that has not been open before, the highlighting does not change?
Can you post some screenshots, please, of before opening a new tab and afterwards.
EDIT: You can use ::obfuscate(); in the AB to hide private info for the screenshot.

My settings are as in your examples.
The context menu of the button misses the last few entries and looks like this:

Screenshot - 31.10.2021 , 19_03_12.png (37.39 KiB) Viewed 1928 times
I can't produce a screenshot with the highlighting
as it only occurs while I hold down the left mouse button on a new location in the tree.

ok.
Strange.
I assume you are using the latest version 9.
Can you double check if the CEAs in the config dialog are set to "Run script", as in the picture? This is easy to overlook.

Other than that I am not sure, what could be the cause.

Unless you had a different Instant Color Filter (ICF) activated. And I see now that the screenshot with part of your toolbar does not show the "Toggle Instant Colour Filter" button. So, maybe there is another ICF active without you noticing it. To make sure the script works also in that case, just enable that option "+Overwrite Other ICF-Highlighting if Present" in the script's context menu.

If there is still nothing, then I have no more ideas.

The CEAs are correct.
Other color filters are not active.

Ok, one more thing, that I just saw on your last screenshot.
How many open tabs do you have under that tooltip?

Only one tab on each pane is open while testing the script.

Btw. enabling "+Overwrite Other ICF-Highlighting if Present" doesn't help.

:| :| seriously?
I am really not sure what to say now.

Ok, this explains the missing highlight.
I now have 2 tabs and the script highlights the wrong one, not the active tab.
I don't see the logic here.

Please, Horst,
the script highlights both folders in the tree.
XY's natural own highlighting of the current folder just is more powerful and paints over the script's (or, rather, ICF's) highlighting of the current folder.

If you make the tree wide enough and look closely, you should see a tiny short green line at the right end of the current folder in the tree.
This is because the ICF's highlighting is "under" XY's own current-folder-highlighting but it is a little bit longer, thus, extends out from "underneath" and becomes a little bit visible at the right end.

However, this is all native XY behaviour and has nothing to do particularly with my script.
This is also true of other ICF highlighting.
If I may ask: Why do you as forum moderator not know these things?

Horst, I wonder why your expansion icons in the tree are so fat!? What are your font settings, and what's your screen resolution?

With more than 3 tabs I now see the logic behind the highlighting :)
Screen resolution is 1920 x 1080
Fonts are set

And you are using a Narrow Tree, right?

Wouldn't you agree that those expansion icons are too fat??

I don't know what you mean with Narrow Tree ?
On the real screen the expansion icons are fine for me.
Also I don't use the tree most of the time.

Tools | Customize Tree | Narrow Tree

IMO they look ugly that fat.
