Hi Don, any chance you could get us the capability to toggle the caption of thumbnails on the fly with immediate affect (XYplorer.ini setting [Thumbs] "ShowCaptions"). It's changeable via getkey/setkey, but obviously it doesn't have immediate affect unless we save it and exit without saving. There are many instances which arise when I could care less to see the captions and others situations where it's important to see them. It's a pain and not worth the trouble to go into configuration to change the setting (which does have immediate affect) but it's not work the the trouble. If I could set a key or key combination to accomplish it quickly and on the fly, I'd use it often. Thanks.

It's Ctrl+Plus (numpad), iirc.

Wow, I must be getting old (because I am) and in the back of my mind I thought I had done it before. I was trying ctrl-shift-numpad+/- which sizes the column for tiles, but does nothing for thumbnail view. I should have put this in Questions. I should delete this embarrassing post. Thanks Marco.

As a side note to myself and maybe others too. I must remember to check "Keyboard Shortcuts" before asking a question like this. I checked "List all Commands" but obviously that isn't enough for questions like this one.

i must not have noticed that CNTRL + number pad + was set to anything because mine is set to View Thumbnails #1. I have been searching for a few hours on here and the help file and cant find a shortcut key for the Show Captions. So when im in thumbnail view i can keep the name titles hidden for a short time until i find the certain image and i can bring them back. I already have the one to overlay captions instead but its still hard to get through images because the name is on top of the image. Is there a way to do this? or get it back if i changed it?

Ctrl+Numpad Add serves a dual role. In column views it autosizes columns now; in thumbnail view it will cycle caption display on and off.

First remove your own Customized Keyboard Shortcut for viewing thumbnail #1. Actually, just change it to something else other than Ctrl+Numpad Add. Then in the same Tools > Customized Keyboard Shortcuts menu, go to the View category and then scroll to "Autosize Columns Now". Press the new keyboard assignment for that command Ctrl+Numpad Add. Make sure you "assign" the new keyboard assignment. Now if you're in a thumbnail viewing mode ,Ctrl+Numpad Add will display or remove captions. In a detail view it will Autosize Columns.

Show captions is shown in the right click menu for the "Views" toolbar button when you are in a thumbnail view. And by the way, there is a command ID for show captions, CID #372 if you'd rather use that in a one-line script or menu.

Hey Don, "Show Captions" can be a bit elusive in that it doesn't show up when you "List all Commands..." You might want to consider reflecting in the "Autosize Columns Now" listing that it's also "Show Captions" when in the thumbnail view or have Show Captions as a separate item and have it updated when the other one, "Autosize Columns Now" is changed and visa versa.
