As in automatically?
Have you added XY to your Autostart folder?

Just uninstalled and reinstalled again and now nothing this time after copying the most recent app data backup from today. Something is corrupted and I cant figure it out. Maybe configuration file?

Have you excluded XY from your AV apps?
Any save settings once you have it back running before you reboot?

Yes, excluded it from antivirus a while back and it was working fine just yesterday. Verified again now and no threats and its still excluded.
I was configuring things quite a bit over the last 12 hours and thought everything was okay until reboot.
At the moment XY has just been freshly installed but I have not copied over the app data. The moment I do that now, it wont start anymore, even without rebooting this time.

01. Reboot again
02. Delete the full content of you XY data folder (but not the folder itself)
03. Copy over the XYplorer.ini from your backup (AND NO OTHER FILES OR FOLDERS THE MOMENT)
04. Open the XYplorer.ini with an editor and change this setting to 1
NoNetworkOnStartup
It's in the [Settings] section
05. Save the file and close it
06. Start XYplorer

Check your task manager if XYplorer (even if non-visible instantly) is running.
Wait up to a minute till its window appears

Okay, did exactly in that order and the NoNetworkOnStartup was already set to 1 so there was nothing to save.
Started XY and same thing, no startup. Checked the task manager and no XY in the Processes.

Not sure if this is related to these new issues I'm having now with startup but one of the tweaks I made recently was changing the TagMaxTagsInMenu=24 to TagMaxTagsInMenu=0.

Make a copy of your XYplorer.ini, rename it to XYplorer.xys, attach it to your next post

Okay, I discovered something strange and I seemed to have found a work around for now to start XY with all settings intact but I can't figure out why XY now requires one of my BitLockered backup drives to be unlocked before XY can launch. This backup only hard drive is drive F: and it is my annual backup drive.

Some quick history...
I backed up the XY AppData to this drive F: from drive C: using Vice Versa Pro's, "Mirror Source to Target" setting on Jan 3, 2024, as part of an annual back profile I have setup.

Jan 4th - Jan 9th, adjusted some XY settings(rounded tabs, tweak tags menu and more). During the course of all that I recall a restart of XY strangely going to the original look or fresh instance. I thought no problem, I'll copy over the recent AppData backup from drive F. Did that and it worked and thought all was well and continued to configure same settings again. Issues upon restart never dawned on me as I often leave my computer running 24/7 and I continued working in XY all the while this time with out issue, opening and closing XY many times, just never restarting.

Jan 4th - Jan 9th, Vice Versa Pro's daily backup profile is running to a different target drive A: that is not BitLockered, also "Mirror Source to Target" the XY AppData contents from drive C: and only when are changes detected.

Jan 9th-10th, restart computer for other reasons that were not XY related and discover XY is not starting nor is it running in task manager. Never thought at first of the annual backup drive F: that got BitLocked automatically after restart being the issue because I did not believe XY was running from that. So I decided to uninstall/reinstall XY and used the more recent daily backup copy of from the A: drive and now XY won't launch until I unlock Drive F:

So what is interesting now, even though I did not copy the AppData contents over from the F: drive and instead copied it over from the most recent backup on the A drive, XY still requires drive F: to be unlocked and oddly all the setting that were saved to the recent Drive A: are intact upon launch after unlocking drive F:

Its seems now all I need to do is redirect where XY should start from... (and I don't know how to do that)

Menu - Go - Go to Application Data Folder

Does it contain the config(s), XY is actually using?

If yes, search your XY .ini for "F:"
Remove all belonging paths (and remember the keys + section) you've removed them from^^

Do it step by step, start XY after each change until you've found the one causing this behavior...

After you've found it, post the section + key^^

Went to the "Go to Application Data Folder" and yes, there is a XYplorer.ini file(s) there. How do I know which configuration file XY is actually using? Also, within some of those other folders, like the AutoBackup, there are more configuration files. When I do a branch view there is four in total. So which one does XY call upon?

"XYplorer.ini" in that folder...

And the Menu - Tools - Configuration... window shows the currently used .ini as well

Okay, back in business!
Here's the issue....

At first I deleted this path and left it empty, then restarted PC, started XY and nothing. Then I unlocked drive F: and still nothing. That's when I knew this was the cause.
Then I changed it to this...

And everything is working perfectly again.
Somehow I think I screwed up when I was trying to get my comments and tags back earlier after reinstall. Can't remember exactly but I may have tried to load the tags database from XY's Menu, Tags, Reload Tags Database and selected drive F: as the source. Coming to think about it now in hindsight, it may have been easier to have gone that route first.
