I obviously missed highend's reply a year ago. I am now on 22.6.0100 and the preview of Office and PDF files still only shows plain text. Here are the screenshots he asked for. Better late than never.

I am not able to preview doc or docx files. Any news on this? Tested with 25.30.0008 beta

To see more than pure text extracts you need a Preview module which also shows previews in Explorer.
If Explorer preview works, it will also work in XY.

For PDF, it's easy as there are many available Tools which deliver PDF previews.
SumatraPDF or PDF-XChange for example.

For the Doc or Docx format, there are no free previewers.
You need MS Office for example.
Windows 11 Home x64 Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3007)
Portable XYplorer (actual version, including betas)
Everything 1.5.0.1366a (x64), Everything Toolbar 1.3.2, Listary Pro 6.3.0.63
