new instance opening when opening folder

Post by if3ll »

When I try to open a folder through a folder button in the start menu or an Autohotkey hotkey, XYplorer opens a new instance in the background (in the tray) instead of opening the folder or opening the app to foreground. This happens when I already have an instance open in the tray, so there are just more and more XYplorers open, and I can only actually open it by clicking on the icon in the tray.
This was not a problem before, just after I changed the app title from <path> - <app> <ver> to something else. Any ideas?

And does it stop if you disable
Configuration | General | Startup & Exit | [x] Allow multiple instances?

it doesn't, I tried that unfortunately and it just opens a new instance where the option is checked again

No.

01. Quit ALL instances!

02. Run it once
Remove the checkmark for that option
Save settings
Quit that instance again

03. Start it

Does it now work as expected?

It does not, but the checkbox is saved as ticked off.

alright, changing the title bar back to <path> - <app> <ver> fixes it, so it's back to normal. I guess I'll just leave it like that.

Have you tried unchecking the option "Minimize to tray on X close"?

it seems like the problem is when I make the title: something something <app>somethingsomething
as I leave it as: something something <app>
it works fine

In that case I’d call it a bug…

Is that a trial or a registered version?

It's the registered standard pro version

XY reads the open window titles to detect if previous instances are already open. So how exactly did you define the title template?

sorry for the super late reply, if I make it something like <path> - <app>rerererer or TUVW<app> (so that it shows up like path - XYplorererererer or TUVWXYplorer), then the same issue of opening a new instance happens. The moment I change it back it works as expected.
I'm pretty sure it's just that if I change the app title to default having something right beside <app> without space, the app gets confused on what to open.
