Sort favorite-like files/folders 1st per folder?

Post by PredragR »

Hi,

I was wondering if this would be interesting to implement? The concept would be to mark a file or folder (or more of them) "favorite" or "prioritize" them for that current folder, which would always sort it on top?

My work process includes wrangling a lot of folders and files, and I always sort them descending by the modified date (so the most recently modified ones are on top). The view is always in detailed mode. I frequent through more than 300 folders, and each one has a couple of files or folders which are always needed. I would love to somehow have the option to place them on top of the everything else. I was considering favorites, or catalogues, but given the large number of them, it would be impractical to create them, or differentiate between them fast enough. And because of my work, those are not always same folders - we introduce new ones on a weekly or monthly basis, so some other are not needed that month, but the next I need them again.. Managing them through favorites or catalogue would take too much time.

After more than 3 hours of looking at the lists, I find myself looking at the folder that I need, but not seeing it, if you understand..

Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance for a great software and the best file manager!

Take care,
Predrag

This shouldn't be so hard.

Tag or label them, sort them by that column to get your "favorites" to the top and then shift click on the modified column header (= second sort) and you have what you need.

Oh I feel stupid now. I never thought of that as I never dived any deeper into tags and labels. Just reading about them in the help section opens up a whole new workflow for me.

Thanks highend.
