XYplorer 21.30 has been released on 23-Nov-2020. Here’s a quick introduction to the main new features:
Transparent Folders. Now the Folder Contents Preview supports the Hover Box which means you can preview the contents of files in folders before even opening those folders, just by moving the mouse over the items listed in the Folder Contents Preview. You can look into closed folders as if they were made of glass.
First ensure that the Folder Contents Preview is enabled: Configuration | Preview | Mouse Down Blow Up | Mouse Up on Folder Icons | Folder contents preview.
Then ensure that the Hover Box is enabled: Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show Hover Box.
And make sure that Folder Contents Preview is ticked in Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show Hover Box | Select Context....
Now click on a folder icon in the folder tree or in the file list. On releasing the mouse button the Folder Contents Preview will pop up showing a list of all items in that folder (without opening that folder):
Now move the mouse over any of the listed icons or captions (whether it works on the captions depends on the setting of Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show info tips only when hovering file icon). Depending on the hovered file type you will either see a Hover Box with a preview of the file, or a File Info Tip showing the usual file meta data. In this example, it’s a bird in a Hover Box:
Here’s another example showing a human in a Hover Box standing in front of a speaker box:
FYI, you can right-click any item in the Folder Contents Preview to pop a small context menu with some useful commands:
Here is an example for a text file preview in the Hover Box:
And here is an example for a PDF file preview in the Hover Box:
FYI, you can enlarge or shrink the Hover Box on the fly by pressing numpad plus (+) or numpad minus (-) while the box is shown. Here is a larger Hover Box for the same PDF file:
The Hover Box can as well preview folders, so you can see a folder preview within a folder preview of an unopened folder:
Finally here’s an example illustrating that, of course, it also work on folders in the folder tree:
