XYplorer 22.30 has been released on 28-Sep-2021. Here’s a quick introduction to the main new features:
Live Filter via Cell Context Menu. Now it’s just a click to filter the list for a specific property. And that’s any property, including the standard columns, tags, comments, extended shell properties, and even your own user-defined custom columns. Unprecedented and addictive usability booster. And the learning curve is a dot.
Here is a list with two Custom Columns ("First Byte" and "Last Word") and two Special Property Columns ("Aspect Ratio" and "Dimensions").
FYI, "First Byte" shows the first byte of a file, and is defined like this (in Configuration | Information | Custom Columns):
"Last Word" shows the last word of the filename, and is defined like this (in Configuration | Information | Custom Columns):
So now we want to see only those files where the last word of the filename is "1969": Simply Ctrl+Right-Click any of the "1969" cells in the "Last Word" column and click Live Filter in the popup menu (the so-called Cell Context Menu):
And that’s about it! As you see, the Live Filter Box in the left end of the status bar has been automatically filled with the pattern Last Word: 1969, and the list has been filtered accordingly:
To remove the filter, simply press ESC (while the focus is in the list), or click the loupe icon in the Live Filter Box (which will toggle the last filter on and off), or click the little x at the right end of the greenish Live Filter Information Bar.
But we can as well go on and apply another filter to the original list right here from the filtered list! Let’s go for an Aspect Ratio of "1:1":
And voilà, the folder contains one other file with that aspect ratio:

Quick Search via Cell Context Menu. Now it’s just a click to search the current location including its subfolders for a specific property. And that’s any property, including the standard columns, tags, comments, extended shell properties, and even your own user-defined custom columns. Just wow.
The Cell Context Menu has another command right below "Live Filter": "Quick Search". Other than "Live Filter" the "Quick Search" includes all subfolders of the current location.
Here, for example, we are interested in all files whose first byte is "R": Simply Ctrl+Right-Click any of the "R" cells in the "First Byte" column (for the column definition see above) and click Quick Search in the popup menu (the so-called Cell Context Menu):
And voilà, the folder (including subfolders) contains a couple of them:
Refer to "Cell Context Menu" in the Help for more details and additional options.
Photo Data in the Hover Box. See Camera Model, Focal Length, F-Stop, Exposure Time, Exposure Bias, ISO Speed, and Date Taken, and of course an image preview by simply moving the mouse over the photo file.
First, to make the Hover Box happen, ensure that this is ticked: Configuration | Information | File Info Tips & Hover Box | Show Hover Box.
Now, when you hover the thumbnail in Tiles views, or the icon in Details view, the Hover Box will show the image preview and some basic file data:
Now, while the Hover Box is showing, press the P key. The photo data will show (if there are any):
Press the P key again to hide the photo data.
Alternatively you can toggle the feature here: Configuration | Information | Report & Data | Photo Data | Show photo data in the Hover Box.
