Release 24.10

XYplorer © 2024 · File Manager for Windows

XYplorer 24.10 has been released on 16-Feb-2023. Here’s a quick introduction to the main new features:

  • Empty Cell Defaults. If you suffer from fear of the void you will be glad that this version offers easy ways to fill the void. The marking of the different types of emptiness can actually serve a better overview.

Empty cells are cells without content. Normally they simply show nothing. Now you can make them show something, something of your own free choice. It can make quite a difference in the look and feel of a list.

Without Empty Cell Defaults a listing might look like this:

    Empty Cell Defaults OFF.

Now enable the Empty Cell Defaults by ticking Configuration | Colors and Styles | Styles | Columns | Use empty cell defaults. This is what you get:

    Empty Cell Defaults ON.

This is just an example. You can freely configure what is shown in which kind of empty cell. To do this click the button Configuration | Colors and Styles | Styles | Columns | Configure...:

    Configuring the Empty Cell Defaults.

The black diamond ◆ makes folders (where the extension column is always empty) neatly stand out.

  • Fake Right-Drag-and-Drop. Now you can fake a right-drag-and-drop by holding down CTRL and SHIFT while doing a left-drag-and-drop. That way you can have the drag-and-drop context menu on left-drag-and-drop, which is pretty cool in limited hardware and software contexts.

Can’t prove it but this drag-and-drop context menu popped after a left-drag (holding down CTRL and SHIFT):

    Popped on left-drag-and-drop.

  • Many Other Improvements. See change log (about 1.5 MB).
