Release 24.90

XYplorer © 2024 · File Manager for Windows

XYplorer 24.90 has been released on 27-Aug-2023. Here’s a quick introduction to the main new features:

  • Color Folder Rows. If you’re looking for folders, you’ve come to the right place. Now, with a single keystroke, you can color-code folders to make them stand out.

Sometimes, especially with mixed sorting (folders not kept separate from files), it is hard to see the folders among the files, or the files among the folders. The icon is not enough. Now you can turn on a special coloring that makes things clear right away.

The "Show Folder Row Colors" toggle is located at the bottom of the Tools | Customize List menu.

Pro Tip: You can quickly access this menu by Shift+right-clicking on the empty space anywhere in the File List pane.

Compare these two views of the same list of items:

The colors are fully customizable, see the help file for details.

  • Switch Folder Views. Now you can switch between the current and your favorite folder view with a single keystroke. A folder view includes column layout, sort order, list view, and list style.

The new commands View | Folder View Settings | Apply Default Folder View and View | Folder View Settings | Apply Previous Folder View put the power of folder view settings at your fingertips. They let you quickly switch back and forth between two completely different views of the same folder contents.

Compare these two views, they are quite different, but switching between them is now a snap with the new "Apply Previous Folder View" command. Of course, you can assign any keyboard shortcut to this command.

View 1: Details view with Path column, sorted by Modified.

View 2: Same items in Details with Thumbnails view, photo-related columns, Label and Name column to the right, sorted by date taken.

The new "Apply Default Folder View" command loads the folder view that you have previously set as your default folder view using "Define this Folder View as Default". If "Automatically Apply Default Folder View" is unchecked then the default folder view can serve as your favorite folder view.

Note that all the commands mentioned in this section are available not only in the main menu, but also in the context menu of the Folder View Settings toolbar button:
